EWS Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2026
These conditions must be met for the EWS certificate:
Income Limit
- The family's **gross annual income** must be **less than 8 lakhs**
- Income from all sources will be included (salary, business, agriculture, etc.)
Asset Criteria
The family must not have these assets:
- **5 acres or more of agricultural land**
- **1000 sq ft or larger residential flat**
- **Residential plot** - larger than 100 sq yards in a notified municipality, or larger than 200 sq yards in a non-municipality area
Who CANNOT Apply for EWS?
- SC, ST, OBC (NCL and Creamy Layer) candidates
- Those whose family income is more than 8 lakhs
- Those who have the above-mentioned assets
- Those who are already taking benefit of any other reservation

EWS Certificate Format for NEET 2026
The EWS certificate must be in the format prescribed by the government. The certificate must have these details:
Required Information:
- Name and address of the candidate
- Name of father/mother
- Annual income of the family
- Asset declaration (land, flat, plot)
- Clear mention of "EWS category"
- Signature and stamp of issuing authority

Step-by-Step: How to Get EWS Certificate
Step 1: Check Eligibility
First confirm whether you meet all the EWS conditions.
Step 2: Gather Documents
- **Income Proof:** Salary slips / IT returns / bank statements of parents
- **Asset Declaration:** Property documents, land records
- **Identity Proof:** Aadhaar, Voter ID
- **Residence Proof:** Ration card, electricity bill
Step 3: Apply at Tehsildar Office
Go to the Tehsildar or SDM office in your area. You will get the EWS certificate application form there.
Step 4: Fill Application Form
Fill all details correctly. Do not give false information about income and assets - this is a legal offence.
Step 5: Verification
The official will verify your documents. In some cases, ground verification may also happen.
Step 6: Get Certificate
After verification, the certificate will be issued. It generally takes 7-15 days.

- Total AIQ MBBS Seats: ~15,000
- EWS Reservation (10%): ~1,500 seats

- **Income Limit:** Currently 8 lakhs. There is some discussion about increasing it to 9 lakhs, but it is not confirmed for 2026.
- **Certificate Validity:** The EWS certificate is valid only **for the financial year**. You will need a new certificate every year.
