Everything About Neet Counselling
NEET COUNSELLING 2026 NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) On 21 June, the NEET re-exam is scheduled because the paper was leaked this year. NEET Counselling 2026 means that after the NEET examination is conducted, the result will be declared after 30–40 days. Counselling starts approximately one month after the result is announced. There will be hundreds of students with the same score. 1. MBBS, BDS, Nursing NEET counselling takes place at 2 levels. {1} All India Level Quota – Counselling is done via the MCC website. Whichever universities conduct counselling/choice filling through MCC, those seats are meant for All India students, which means that any student from any state can apply for those seats to pursue MBBS, BDS, or Nursing.-- FOR GOVERNMENT COLLEGES – 15% SEATS All India level counselling is conducted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee). In the entire country, 15% of the medical seats (for MBBS, BDS, and Nursing) of every Government College are filled through the MCC website, and the remaining 85% seats come under the State Level Quota and are filled through the respective websites of different states. This means that if any Government College in any state has 200 seats, then 15% (30 seats) will be filled through the MCC website, and the remaining 85% seats will be filled through that state's website. These 15% seats are at the All India Level, and any student from any state can apply for them through the MCC website. The remaining 85% seats can only be applied for by students of that state who possess the domicile of that state.-- FOR AIIMS – 100% SEATS 100% seats of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) are filled through MCC. There is no state quota in AIIMS, which means that any student from any state can apply for all the seats through the MCC website.-- FOR JIPMER – 100% SEATS 100% seats of JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) are filled through MCC. There are only 2 JIPMER institutions in India: the first is located in Puducherry and the second is located in Karaikal. JIPMER has reservation for some seats for the people of Puducherry; however, applications are still made through the MCC website.-- FOR CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES – 100% SEATS 100% seats of Central Universities such as AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) and BHU (Banaras Hindu University) are filled through MCC. It means that there is zero (0) state reservation in these seats, and any student from any state can apply.-- FOR DEEMED UNIVERSITIES – 100% SEATS Deemed Universities (when a university becomes so large that it starts making its own rules, syllabus, and patterns, it is called a Deemed University) have 100% of their seats filled through MCC, and the fees of these universities are high.-- FOR AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College), Pune – 100% SEATS 100% seats of AFMC are filled through MCC. Further, there are some interviews, physical tests, and other tests, and selection is based on those tests. However, initially, the choice filling for seats has to be done through MCC. All these tests are conducted in Pune.-- FOR ESIC IP QUOTA – 15% SEATS ALL INDIA QUOTA AND 35% SEATS FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE THE BENEFIT OF ESIC-- ESIC IP (Employees' State Insurance Corporation Insured Person Quota) ESIC has its own medical colleges. There are approximately 20 ESIC medical colleges in India. ESIC means that for students whose parents work in private companies, a certain amount of money is deducted from their salary every month under ESIC. Their children receive the benefit of this because they get the benefit of 15% AIQ (All India Quota) through MCC, and along with that, they also get the benefit of the 35% ESIC Quota seats. REMEMBER --> Choice filling for the 35% ESIC seats is not done through MCC; it is done through ESIC's own website. ESIC has its own medical colleges as well. Their infrastructure is also very good. The cut-off is lower.-- DU (University of Delhi) – 100% SEATS The major colleges under DU (University of Delhi) in NEET UG are: * Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) * Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) * University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) 100% seats of DU are filled through MCC. However, remember that the All India Quota is only 15%, for which any student from any state can apply. The remaining 85% seats are reserved for Delhi students. REMEMBER: A Delhi domicile is not required for these remaining 85% seats, but the requirement is that the student should have completed both Class 11 and Class 12 from Delhi. In that case, the student can apply for these 85% seats as well.-- FOR IPU (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) – 15% SEATS The colleges under IPU include: * VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital * NDMC Medical College * Dr. BSA Medical College Seat Distribution: * 15% AIQ seats → Filled through MCC. * 85% Delhi State Quota seats → Filled through the GGSIPU (IPU) counselling website, not through MCC. Here also, the same rule applies: a student who has completed both Class 11 and Class 12 from Delhi can apply for the remaining 85% seats. However, the application for these seats is not made through MCC; it is made through the IPU counselling website.-- FOR CW QUOTA – 5% CW (Children/Widows) Quota – This reservation is 5% within the Delhi State Quota, out of the 85% Delhi State Quota seats. Since the choice filling for Delhi State Quota seats is also done through MCC, the CW Quota is also processed through MCC. However, merely completing Class 11 and Class 12 from Delhi does not make a student eligible for the CW Quota. To avail the benefit of the CW Quota, the following 2 conditions must be fulfilled: 1. Delhi Quota Eligibility ✅ The candidate should have passed Class 11 and Class 12 from a recognized school in Delhi and should be eligible for the 85% Delhi Quota. 2. CW Eligibility ✅ The candidate should belong to the Armed Forces category, such as: * Children/Wards of Defence Personnel * Widows/Wards of personnel killed in action * Wards of Ex-servicemen * Wards of personnel disabled in action * Wards of Gallantry Awardees, etc. Example Case 1: * Completed Class 11 and Class 12 from Delhi. * Father is not in the Army. ❌ ✅ CW Quota benefit will not be available. Only the normal 85% Delhi Quota benefit will be available. Case 2: * Completed Class 11 and Class 12 from Delhi. * Father is in the Army and valid CW documents are available. ✅ Both the 85% Delhi Quota benefit and the CW Quota benefit can be availed. Short Answer: No. Merely completing Class 11 and Class 12 from Delhi does not provide the benefit of the CW Quota. To avail the CW Quota benefit, the candidate must also be a ward belonging to the Defence category. {2} STATE LEVEL QUOTA – COUNSELLING DONE VIA EVERY STATE'S OWN WEBSITE-- FOR GOVERNMENT COLLEGES – 85% As we studied above, 85% of the seats in all Government Medical Colleges of every state are meant for the students of that particular state. No student from any other state can apply for those seats. Whether a student belongs to that state or another state is determined through the domicile certificate.-- FOR PRIVATE COLLEGES – 100% The seats of private colleges in every state can be taken by the students of that state only, and students from other states cannot apply. However, the point of view here is that there are some Open States in India, such as Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. This means that in these states, students from other states can apply only for private colleges by visiting the respective state's counselling website. Apart from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, there are some other states that also come under Open States. E.G. Gujarat is not an Open State. Therefore, in Gujarat State Counselling, students from other states cannot apply for either the 85% Government seats or the 100% Private College seats. Every state has Deemed Universities whose seats are filled through MCC, and Private Colleges whose seats are filled through the state's own counselling website. The fees vary from state to state. For Deemed Universities, the fees can go up to 1–2 lakh, while for Private Universities/Colleges, the fees can go ₹ ₹ up to 2 lakh.-- FOR NRI QUOTA IN GOVT./PRIVATE COLLEGES E.G. In Deemed Universities, the choice filling for NRI (Non-Resident Indian) seats is done through MCC. There are some states where Government Colleges also have an NRI Quota. In some colleges, it is not necessary that you must be an NRI. You may get Sponsored NRI status if any of your relatives are working there in that country. Through their sponsorship, even as an Indian citizen, you may get these NRI Quota seats. Very high marks or rank in NEET are not necessary for admission through the NRI Quota. Even students who have just qualified NEET can get admission through the NRI Quota. It means, in one line, that if a state is an Open State, such as Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, then students from other states can apply for Private Colleges and NRI Quota seats. In Closed States, students from other states can apply only for NRI Quota seats. What documents are required for admission under the NRI Quota and what the complete process is, all this is explained through our company. There is a separate package/plan for this. 2. AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yogic Science and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) In Yogic Science and Naturopathy, NEET is not compulsory as of now, which means that counselling is not conducted through NEET scores. {1} ALL INDIA LEVEL – Any student from any state can apply. Counselling for AYUSH courses at the All India Level is conducted by AACCC (Ayush Admissions Central Counseling Committee) for 15% seats, similar to MCC. The counselling of AYUSH courses through AACCC includes: * BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) for Ayurveda, * BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) for Unani, * BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery) for Siddha, * BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) for Homeopathy.-- FOR GOVT. COLLEGES / GOVT.-AIDED SEATS – 15% FILLED BY AACCC In the entire country, 15% seats of all Government and Government-Aided AYUSH colleges are filled through the AACCC authority's website. (Government-Aided AYUSH Colleges --> These colleges are run by private trusts or societies. The Government provides some funding to them. Their fees are higher than Government Colleges but lower than Private Colleges. Their 15% AIQ seats may be filled through AACCC, and the remaining seats may be filled through State Counselling.)-- 100% BAMS SEATS ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC IN: * BHU (Banaras Hindu University) * NIA Jaipur * NIA Panchkula * ITRA Jamnagar-- 100% BHMS SEATS OF NIH Kolkata ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC.-- 100% BSMS SEATS OF NIS Chennai ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC.-- 100% SEATS OF DEEMED UNIVERSITIES ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC.-- 50% BAMS SEATS OF AIIA Goa ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC.-- 50% BUMS SEATS OF AMU, Aligarh ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC.-- 50% BAMS AND BHMS SEATS OF NEIA&H, Shillong ARE FILLED THROUGH AACCC. {2} STATE LEVEL – A student can apply only in the state for which he/she possesses the domicile.-- FOR GOVT. COLLEGES – 85%-- FOR PRIVATE COLLEGES – 100%-- Here also, students from other states can apply for Private Colleges and NRI Quota seats in Open States. Domicile is not required in such cases.3. B.V.Sc. – Bachelor of Veterinary Science {1} ALL INDIA LEVEL – VCI (Veterinary Council of India) Same like MCC and AACCC, here also, for B.V.Sc., counselling for 15% seats of all the colleges across India where Veterinary courses are offered is conducted through the VCI website. {2} STATE LEVEL COUNSELLING Here, it is not necessary that counselling for the remaining 85% seats is conducted through the state's website. In every state, some colleges admit students on the basis of Class 12 marks only, while some colleges conduct their own entrance examinations. This means that there is not as much need to appear for the NEET examination. However, at the All India Level, for MCC, AACCC, and VCI, counselling for 15% seats in every Government College is conducted only at the All India Level, through which any student from any state can get admission only in Government Colleges and only on the 15% seats of every college. PATTERN OF AIQ AND STATE COUNSELLING FOR BOTH MCC AND AYUSH Counselling takes place in a total of 6 rounds – 3 AIQ Rounds and 3 State Rounds. PHASE/ROUND - 1 -AIQ ROUND 1 AND STATE ROUND 1 PHASE/ROUND - 2 -AIQ ROUND 2 AND STATE ROUND 2 PHASE/ROUND - 3 -AIQ ROUND 3 AND STATE ROUND 3 (Phase 3 rounds are also called Mop-Up Rounds) PHASE/ROUND - 4 -AIQ ROUND 4 AND STATE ROUND 4 First of all, the 1st Round of the All India Quota (AIQ) starts through the MCC portal. Then, when the result of AIQ Round 1 is about to be declared, Round 1 of State Counselling begins. Once Round 1 of State Counselling is completed and its result is declared, only then does Round 2 of AIQ begin. It does not start before that because, at this stage, it is observed which college the students have taken through the 1st AIQ Round and the 1st State Round. Then, when AIQ Round 2 is about to be completed and its result is about to be declared, the choice filling for State Round 2 begins. Again, once State Round 2 is completed, only then does the choice filling for AIQ Round 3 begin. And when AIQ Round 3 is about to be completed, the choice filling for State Round 3 begins. Then, once State Round 3 is completed, the Stray Vacancy Round starts. The Stray Vacancy Round of AIQ and the Stray Vacancy Round of the State run simultaneously.-> If a student gets a college in Round 2 (whether it is State Counselling or AIQ Counselling) and opts for Free Exit, the security fees are not refunded, and the seat is also lost.-> If a student gets a college in Round 2 (whether it is State Counselling or AIQ Counselling) and does not take admission, that student cannot participate in the Stray Vacancy Rounds.-> MCC releases a complete schedule PDF through which students can view the counselling schedule of the AIQ Rounds.-> Talking about the counselling fees CATEGORY-GEN/EWS OPTION-GOVT COLLEGE FEES-1000(registration fees- non refundable) + 10,000 (security fees refundable) CATEGORY-OBC/SC/ST/PWD OPTION-GOVT COLLEGE FEES-500(registration fees- non refundable) + 5000 (security fees refundable) CATEGORY-ALL CATEGORIES OPTION-DEEMED UNIVER. FEES-5000(registration fees- non refundable) + 2 LAKH (security fees refundable)-> In every round, there is a last date for joining the allotted college.-> Classes in colleges generally begin around the 1st and 2nd Rounds.-> After every round, there is a 2-day processing period for the allotment of colleges to students.-> After the completion of the seat allotment processing, the allotted college must be joined within 6 days. If the date expires, the college admission gets cancelled.-> For every round, there is 1 week of choice filling, followed by 2 days of seat allotment processing. The result of that round is declared on the next day. Then, students are given the next 6 days for joining the allotted college. After that, there is 1 day of verification to determine which students have joined and which have not. On this day, colleges provide this data to MCC and the State Counselling Bodies/Websites. Therefore, if a student does not report to the college for reporting/admission on that day or by the following day, the student's admission gets cancelled.-> Choice filling has to be done again and again for every round. The choice filling of the previous round disappears.-> Suppose a student's category/caste certificate is incorrect and the student gets a college in the 2nd Round. Then, in the next 3rd Round, regardless of the student's caste, that student will be considered under the General category.-> If a student gets a college in the last round and some mistake is found in the documents there as well, then everything is lost. The seat is also lost, and the security fees will not be refunded. -> The security fees have to be paid only in the First Round. After that, in all the remaining rounds, only choice filling has to be done again and again.-> In the 2nd Round, both options are possible: either upgrading to a better college or leaving the allotted college.-> However, a student cannot move from the 2nd Round to the 3rd Round by leaving the allotted seat, i.e., by taking an exit. The 2nd Round security fees will not be refunded, and security fees will have to be paid again for the 3rd Round.-> Free Exit is available in the 1st Round, which means that the fees are refunded if the student leaves the college or does not take admission.-> From the 1st Round to the 2nd Round and from the 2nd Round to the 3rd Round, students can upgrade to a better college by doing separate choice filling for every round.-> However, students cannot upgrade from the 3rd Round to the Stray Vacancy Round. The college allotted in the 3rd Round has to be accepted.-> For every round, a result list will be released in which the rank will be mentioned, showing which college has been allotted to students of which ranks.-> If a college has been allotted in any round starting from the 1st Round, then even if the student does not want admission in that college and wants a college from the next rounds, the student should still go to that college, submit the documents, and inform them that he/she will apply for the next round and that the admission should not be considered final.-> Options in the form of checkboxes for MBBS / BDS / Nursing will appear on the MCC website, through which students can select the course they want to pursue.-> When round-wise college allotment lists are released, a word is used in the category column: "Allotted Category - OPEN". This means General Category, i.e., the seat has been allotted under the General Category.-> If the rank is not mentioned in the result list of any round, it means that no college has been allotted in that round.-> If a college is allotted in the 1st Round, then the student has 3 options. OPTION - 1 - If the student does not want the allotted college, then do not take admission. Go to the college, submit the documents, and inform them that admission is not required in that college at present and that you will apply again in the next round by doing fresh choice filling. OPTION - 2 - If the student wants admission in the allotted college, then, as soon as possible, go to the college and submit the documents. OPTION - 3 - If you want to upgrade the college in the next round, then go to the college allotted in this round, submit the documents and fees, and inform them that you will do choice filling again in the next round and that you do not want this round's college as your final admission.-> The process of college upgradation is simply this: if a college is allotted in the next round, then go back to the previous college, collect the documents, and submit them to the newly allotted college.-> If the student does not join in the 2nd Round as well, then the 1st Round college will remain because the documents and fees had already been submitted there.-> Whether a student gets a college or does not get a college, in both scenarios, the student can directly apply in the first 3 phases without having applied in the previous rounds. If the student had applied in the previous rounds and did not get a college, the student can still apply. And even if the student got a college, the student can still apply in these 3 phases through upgradation, i.e., without paying the security fees again and again.-> If a college is allotted through the DU Quota, then the student has to visit the FMSC DU website, complete the registration, pay the fees, take a printout, and then go to the college carrying all the documents.-> Only those students can apply in the Stray Vacancy Rounds who did not get any college in the first 3 phases/rounds, neither in AIQ nor in the State Rounds, or those students who got a college in the 1st and 2nd Rounds but did not take admission, came again through a fresh form in the 3rd Round by paying the security fees again, and still did not get a college in the 3rd Round.-> The 1st Round is a Free Exit Round. If the student does not join the allotted college, the fees are refunded.-> In any round where the security fees have to be paid again, the registration fees do not have to be paid again. This applies when the student has exited from a round in which the security fees were not refunded.-> If a student gets a college in both AIQ and State Counselling, then a resignation date is provided. During that period, the student can resign from the AIQ seat and move to the State seat. In resignation, the process is simple: the student only has to collect the documents back from the college. (AYUSH) AACCC COUNSELLING PROCESS The counselling rounds of AYUSH and MCC are the same. The only difference is that AYUSH has 2 Stray Vacancy Counselling Rounds: 1. 1st Stray Vacancy Counselling Round 2. 2nd Stray Vacancy Counselling Round Apart from this, everything from A to Z is exactly the same as MCC.
