TNEA Counselling Process — Step by Step

Step 1: Online Registration

How to do it:

Click on "New Candidate Registration"
Enter your **HSC roll number, DOB, and Aadhaar number**
Fill in all personal details
Enter community certificate details
Pay the registration fee

Step 3: Random Number Generation

In TNEA, rank is made based on 12th board marks. If marks are equal, a random number decides who gets which rank.

Rank calculation:

**Mathematics:** 100 marks (weightage = 1)
**Physics:** 100 marks (weightage = 0.5)
**Chemistry:** 100 marks (weightage = 0.25)
**Total:** 175 marks

Step 4: Choice Filling

Important points:

**More choices are safer**
**Put government colleges first** — then aided, then private
**Decide branch preference** — CSE first, then ECE, EEE, Mechanical
**Location preference** — Chennai > Coimbatore > Madurai > Trichy > Other cities
**Fill at least 100 choices** — Minimum guarantee
